(Sedro-Woolley, WA)—The Port of Skagit is set to host its third and final summer concert of the 2026 series on September 12 and it may be the most special one yet: the first outdoor concert for the Skagit Symphony.
The Port established the Music in the Park @ SWIFT events in 2025 at the former Northern State Hospital campus. This free community concert series is part of the Port’s focus on increasing public access and activity on the property.
The Skagit Symphony will perform outdoors, in what the group believes to be the first time ever in their history. The theme for the evening will be “Americana” and will feature familiar songs from An American in Paris, West Side Story, Lord of the Rings, a Duke Ellington medley, a new guitar concerto written by a local composer.
This special concert event is free to attend and community members of all ages are encouraged to come enjoy the peaceful setting and the beautiful music. It is the hope of the Port and the Symphony that this event will be an opportunity to introduce a new audience to orchestral music and to the SWIFT Center property.
Music in the Park @ SWIFT begins at 5:30pm on Saturday, September 12 and takes place in a grassy area on the east end of the campus off Thompson Drive in Sedro-Woolley. Food trucks, a beer garden and free face painting for kids will be available during the event, which is scheduled to conclude at 7:30pm. For more information, visit www.portofskagit.com/music
